Become a board member.

DSL Michigan is seeking experienced leaders to help guide our ministry. Board members shape strategy, steward resources, and champion our mission across the state.

Board Member Qualifications

Per DSL Michigan bylaws, every board member must:

  • Be at least 18 years old and a person of good reputation who acts ethically.
  • Be committed to protecting and supporting children with Down syndrome and their families.
  • Support the mission and values of DSL Michigan (Christian, life-affirming).
  • Attend at least 75% of board meetings each year.
  • Help with fundraising, sponsorships, and community outreach / events.
  • Bring professional, volunteer, or personal experience that benefits the organization (business, finance, legal, marketing, healthcare, education, lived experience, etc.).
  • Be willing to vote on important organizational decisions.
  • Avoid conflicts of interest and disclose any potential conflicts.
  • Maintain confidentiality and act in the best interests of the organization.
  • Agree to sign DSL Michigan's board member policies and conflict-of-interest forms and follow our bylaws.
  • Be qualified for the specific role applied to (Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, At-Large Director, or Advisory Board).
