DSL Michigan offers $1,000, $3,500, and $5,000 grants to families raising a child with Down syndrome. Funds go directly toward therapy, medical needs, adaptive equipment, and everyday support.

Starter Grant
Help with immediate everyday needs — diapers, formula, co-pays, or a piece of adaptive equipment.
•Medical co-pays & prescriptions
•Specialty formula or feeding supplies
•Adaptive clothing or basic equipment
•Travel to a specialist appointment
$3,500
Family Support Grant
Cover a meaningful season of therapy, childcare, or larger equipment that insurance won't.
•Speech, OT, PT, or feeding therapy not covered by insurance
•Specialized childcare or respite care
•AAC device, glasses, or orthotics
•Rent / utility relief during medical hardship
$5,000
Major Needs Grant
Significant medical, equipment, or housing modifications for families facing a heavy season.
•Surgery-related travel & lodging
•Major adaptive equipment or mobility devices
•Home accessibility modifications
•Extended therapy program or intensive

Our grants committee reviews each application for need and available funds. We may follow up with a brief phone call.

We'll email you with a decision. Approved grants are paid by check or directly to the provider (therapist, vendor, etc.).

Eligibility: Open to Michigan families raising a child with Down syndrome (prenatal through age 25). One grant per family per 12-month period. Funds may not be used for non-essential items.
